Transcoding OGG -> MP3

Hi all,

I have quite  a few OGG VBR files and I would like to transcode them to MP3s since my iPod can't play OGG.

What's the easiest way to accomplish this? I have around 100 files that I would like to convert. I have a Mac OS X and Win2K machine available.

I'd prefer software that does not create temp wav files but does transcoding automatically and also something that can convert a large number of files without any need for 'baby-sitting'. Are there any free utils that can accomplish this?

Thanks!

well... the EASIEST way would be:
compile lame (--with-vorbis)

lame --settings file.ogg file.mp3

try the dbpoweramp music converter. its the easiest way to transcode files. you will have to install the ogg plugin from codec central. the converter comes built-in with the latest (stable) lame encoder. u may try the mpeg-suite encoder plugin  if u can compromise on quality for speed. its the fastest mp3 encoder out there.

If you don't want to compile yourself: xcLAME is available at Rarewares.
Another way (which also takes care about tagging) would be to use foobar2000 and its Diskwriter.

dbpoweramp also has an Ipod plugin for it's music player loader.  I've never used the loader program or Itunes so I don't really know what advantage it would have over converting to mp3 and using Itunes.
