Anyone want to try Sonique 2 beta?

Last I looked, Sonique was keeping its plug-in architecture to itself, preventing third party plug-ins from being coded.

No supereq.
No Adapt-X plugin
No 48Khz resample plug
No mp3cue
No Mad decoder
No crossfeed headphone plug-ins

Its too bad too, because IMHO, Sonique has the coolest visuals by far if you like that sort of thing.

But without these plug-ins, it will never match Winamp for functionality/quality.

No Musepack
No MP4
No replaygain in Vorbis
AAC support is bad (based on faad1, not faad2)

And so on...

Ok, there is a lot missing, but where else have you seen eye candy that good?

Well, an audio player is mostly about audio, right? If I wanted something that really pleased my eyes, I'd rather look at Jennifer Lopez.

Sonique always had the coolest visual impression. I used Sonique alot back in the days of 1.8 and 1.9, instead of the equalent Winamp versions.

But development on Sonique has been extremely slow, and thus, they haven't been able to keep up with the competition, even though they have the coolest visuals, still.

Pfft Lopez.  Beh.  I'm listening to Digital Disco 2 right now and it's never sounded better [only becuase it's orange theme ties in so well ]  Give Sonique some time.  It'll build up.

pfft sonique. beh. give wianmp a try, it'll build up even more
there have been some real good reasons not to use sonique, namly the lack of some features + old plugins. on the other hand s. has some nice visualisations and other eye candy stuff.
so, everybody, please decide for yourself which player to use, but don't go screaming: the player is soooo great, and I don't any critism on that.

Very true.  Soniques interface is just too cool though.

I couldn't care less about interface. I usually leave the player minimized to tray playing a big playlist in the background.

I use Winamp5 with a Winamp2 skin exactly to keep resource consumption low (IIRC, all that eye candy makes Sonique one of the most bloated and resource-intensive audio players)

I probably shouldn't post here (for obvious reasons) ... well, here goes my personal opinion : It looks really cool but the first time it crashed on me, also I had problems figuring out which button does what. Maybe it's just the default skin?
