This appears still an issue with foobar 0.8.  Tthe multimedia keys on a Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro do not affect foobar when minimized, for me annoyingly this pops up Real One.

Kill your keyboard software and/or bind the keys as global shortcuts?

cool, killing type32.exe and adding global versions did the trick.  Intellitype intercepts the key and doesn't even allow you to enter in the preferences.

Kill your keyboard software and/or bind the keys as global shortcuts?

This man (or woman) is right on the money

Step 1 - Disable your keyboard software (type32.exe for ms keyboard users)
*For instance, go into task manager, and end task the proccess.

Step 2 - Foobar2k -> Prefs -> Core
*Deselect "Enable default multimedia keyboard support".

Step 3 - Go to Keyboard Shortcuts submenu
*Remove current multimedia key bindings (Play/pause, stop, etc).
*Find each of the above key bindings in the bottom menu, and
add  them by ticking "Global Hotkey" and then pressing the desired
multimedia key of your choice, then clicking add.
*Once all multimedia keys are done, select "Save All"
                  *Close Foobar2k preferences window

Step 4 - Reload your keyboard manager software
*For instance, MS Keyboard users would go into their keyboard
control panel item, then key settings, then click "OK".

Step 5 - Test your new, working Foobar2k keyboard shortcuts with Foobar2k in the
            tray

Step 6 - If keys do not work 100% (happened with my play/pause with MS board)
*Un-bind the actions for troublesome keys in your keyboard manager.
The keys should now work without triggering extra actions that
                    they're not meant to

Hope it helps you all! And thanks to the Foobar2k creators for making such a nice, light media player

Good step by step instructions maelstrom. That's exactly what i ended up doing a little while ago.  The only problem remains that play/pause button which tries to launch another media player if left with its default function in intellitype.  Other than that, everything works great and the key response is much faster than intellitype's command translation from what I've noticed.

I have the foo_winamp_spam.dll installed, maybe that's why it's working for me with a logitech keyboard :?
