@john33 that honestly looks too complicated and with a lot of stuff I won't need, another thing is that I don't know how to code.
I found the opus-tools from this: https://github.com/Chocobo1/opus-tools_win32-build
I downloaded the tools and the encoder seems to work completely fine.
I was thinking of using foobar2000 to encode everything that I need.
Hopefully I can create a working batch script and then just leave the computer encoding everything. That will probably take a while as well...

Looks like a perfectly good source of opus tools. No reason to look elsewhere. :)

Thanks, guys. A stupid error now corrected. ;)

Is there a preference between builds here? Of course I'm assuming both won't have any compatibility issues or bugs in the encoding or decoding compared with any generic opus file.

Hi people.

I use fre:ac 1.1.7 to convert files to opus, just checked and it's using opus 1.3.1.

Is opus 1.5.2 significant better than 1.3.1?

If so, how do I update in order to fre:ac use it?

Thanks!

The changelog might give you an idea.

Edit: As far as my comprehension skills go, there was indeed some improvements in SQ, but in the <16Kbps domain mostly.

Edit II: Regarding being stuck with Opus 1.3.1, I'm also in the same boat, as I do part of my encoding on an Android device. Since getting FFmpeg to work on that OS is nigh impossible, I use an app called, well, "Audio Encoder" - using Lavc58.123.100 to encode, which by its turn was in FFmpeg 4.x - which then used libopus 1.3.1.

• The older, the 'lossier'

The short answer is no. Most of the changes between 1.3.1 and 1.5.2 focused on real-time communications, especially better robustness to packet loss and decoder improvements for ultra-low-bitrate speech. For encoding stereo music at normal bitrates, it's conceivable that some other bugfix in there will change encoder output, but it's quite unlikely you'd notice a difference on real music.
