Memphis Record Pressing set for $7.5M logistics

Memphis Record Pressing set for $7.5M logistics operations expansion due to demand

Memphis Record Pressing was established in 2014 and has benefitted from the revival of the vinyl record industry. The company is now needing to expand to keep up with product demand, and it has applied for incentives from the Economic Development Growth Engine (EDGE) for Memphis & Shelby County.

According to an EDGE application posted on Aug. 13, Memphis Record Pressing LLC (MRP) would make an investment of $7.5 million to start a new logistics operation "independent from its Bartlett facility."

Still not profitable enough to attract real investors or for the "record companies" to invest?

When I was growing-up we had a CBS/Columbia record pressing plant that was one of the few "big employers" in our little town.

It turns out Artists don't get paid for radio play.
Payola - The record companies used to pay radio stations (under the table) to play & promote their records.
