Jet-Audio better than WinAmp?? (decoder engine discussion)

Hey all, I realised while playing with Jet-Audio (Cowon) configuration pannel that I could set the mp3 decoder engine to a higher quality (set it to 64bits instead of 32).
I have it Winamp's decoder is fixed to 32.
Does anyone know if Jet-Audio outputs better audio quality?
I think I really can hear the difference between Winamp & Jet-Audio while playing the same track. Am I insane or have I put to light a better MP3 player than Winamp??
Sorry for my less than average english.
Later,

if You can output to WAV with JetAudio - try blind-testing Winamp vs JetAudio generated WAVs - to prove for Yourself that there is a difference for You... unfortunately I don't know whether winamp's decoder uses 32 or 64 bit floats...

I thought that too few months ago... but since then I switched to mpc, the old mp3s sound dull... and Jet-Audio doesn't support mpc...

btw: try http://www.mars.org/home/rob/proj/mpeg/mad-plugin/MAD plug-in 0.14.2b.exe (mp3 input plugin)and see if the quality improves in winamp...

Oh, almost forgot, also for Winamp (DSP plugin):

And, by the way... welcome to the dark side... (the quest for the best audio quality) there's no turning back...

1) Whether a decoder is good or not is determined by checking if it conforms to the MP3 spec. WinAmp does for 16-bit output, so unless you have a soundcard that can actually do 24-bit output, there isn't anything 'better' than WinAmp no matter what hype-ultra-cool-looking switches the developer thought were necessary to add. In fact, after looking at the dialog, it appears Jet-Audio is taking some shortcuts at the default settings and will give thus, if anything, WORSE quality.

2) If you think there is any advantage to 'more precise' (whatever that's supposed to mean) decoding at 16-bits, you should try to pass the MAD challenge at ff123.net.

Edit: After a closer look, the _default_ already claims to do 32-bit decoding. Anything over that is a complete utter waste of time that will give no quality improvements whatsoever and is only meant to fool users.
