Is there a way to update Foobar without affecting my current icons?

When I first built my computer, I took the time to select specific icons for each audio file type.  Most media players, and apps in general that associate themselves with specific file types, have an option to decide which file types should be included/excluded.  I recently upgraded Foobar to the most recent version, and while setting up for the install I couldn't find an option to deselect file associations so there was no way to keep Foobar from changing my icons.  Is this just the way it is or is there a way around this that I missed?  Did Foobar ever have this option?

foobar2000 has always allowed selecting which formats to associate. Back in the Windows XP days there was a format list wich checkboxes in preferences. But since Windows Vista the operating system tools are used for that, as Microsoft's documentation instructs.
Unless you are on Windows XP use the proper OS tools to do your custom associations.
I'd recommend placing your custom icons in foobar2000\icons directory replacing the existing icons there. Make sure file modification times are newer than on the the bundled files and the installer won't override them.

Thanks for the reply, Case.  I thought Foobar had the option at one point.  Good to know my memory serves me well (sometimes).  I'll probably just stick with the older version for now and if I do ever need to upgrade I will use the method you described with the foobar icon directory.  I was hoping I could find some way to get Foobar to leave them alone entirely when upgrading, but it'll only take a few minutes to fix.  Part of the problem is that Windows 10 (correct me if I'm wrong) can only edit icons through associating the file types with a particular program.  Icons can't be changed independently of the file/program associations.  Yet another useful function that XP had that MS has since decided isn't necessary.  You can do it with 3rd party programs, but that's all.

Anyway, thanks for clearing that up, Case.  Much appreciated.
