File naming during conversion with Cue

Hi, When I use Foobar2000 to extract files using a cue file, it shows the track number and titles highlighted in blue. When I extract I Right click on the blue, click Convert, & then click on Quick Convert. I always select FLAC and select the folder.

An example is the album: Unforgettable With Love by Natalie Cole. Track 1 is: "The Very Thought of You".

It does the conversion & for the track name, fills in the artist/Album for the name of each track, adding an incremental number on each track. So what was Track "01" & the song "The Very Thought Of You"  Now has the name: Natalie Cole - Unforgettable With Love [1].flac
The next track created is named: Natalie Cole - Unforgettable With Love [2].flac  The next is: Natalie Cole - Unforgettable With Love [3].flac   and so on for remaining songs.

I have to use a tag editor and manually correct each name & add a number at the beginning so as to keep the tracks in order, renaming this example: 01 The Very Thought Of You

I am running default settings. What do I need to do to have foobar enter the correct name of the track instead of the artist/album with the track sequence at the end of the "name"?

Thanks!

Hi there,

In my many years of foobar I've actually never used the "Quick Convert" option. You could try making a converter preset instead - right-click tracks > Convert > click '...' to open Converter Setup. -> As that wiki page mentions, under the 'Destination' sub-page you can enter the name format, or click '...' in the text box for options.

(And set your 'Output Format' sub-page, etc)

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I'm not able to find what it sounds like I should be finding. I've spent the last hour & more trying to find where to choose / or save my desired output and can't find it. When I use quick convert it does give me a choice of formats it saves the conversion as & I select FLAC, but there is no option to save. Nowhere else have I found this option.

I did try highlighting the desired files & dragging them into foobar, selecting  "default" and this bypasses the option to select output type and produces WAV files, but does create proper track titles, albeit without reflecting the track numbers before the track title names, Ie: 01, 02, 03.

To the good, It's a quick thing to then select all the wav files, right click & use dBconverter's "Convert to" to change the WAV files to flac, and then use MP3tag to edit in the 01, 02, 03 & so on at the beginning of the file name.

Frustrating I can't seem to find how to save the default extension as FLAC so I could bypass that WAV to FLAC step, but still this is much quicker than having to do so much editing in MP3Tag. FWIW, I did look at the WIKI you pointed me to, but that destination page with option to save as FLAC continues to elude me.

Thanks again

When I use quick convert ...
Do not use "Quick Convert" option.

Right-click tracks in foobar playlist > Convert > select '...'
