Foobar started to misnumber tracknumbers.

Foobar didn't have a problem with this until like 2 hours ago. All of a sudden a good 20 percent of my albums started to have the wrong track-numbers and I do not know why. I used to use iTunes and I never had a problem with this and all albums where this problem occurs didn't have this problem on iTunes.

To illustrate my problem here is a screenshot showing that the tracklist is showing up properly on iTunes and that the track-numbers were somehow changed in the explorer. I say changed because all of them follow a similar pattern, the numbers go form 1-4 and have multiple tracks listed as that number like "Mookid" and "Wax The Nip" both being track 1 although it is supposed to be "Acrid Avid Jam Shred" which is now track 3. And no track that had it's number changed goes past track-number 4 (though, I must say i haven't checked EVERY album yet) which is weird.

I added another Screenshot showing the album "American Football" only having track-numbers 1-4 although it has 9 tracks and once again, the album shows up perfectly fine on iTunes and used to show up normally on Foobar (I actually listened to the album yesterday with no complications in the tracklist which makes me even more frustrated).

A solution I thought of, that I don't know how to put into action is that Foobar just uses the filename to fetch the information for the track numbering, like I said I have no clue how this works or if Foobar can even do this so if you could tell me if this would be possible solution it would be much appreciated.

I sincerely hope there is a fix to this or that I just made a simple to resolve mistake, if that isn't the case then please tell me what I can do, I am open to change my UI/Style if that provides a simple solution or if I need to provide more information I'll be ready to do that.

Hi there,

No idea what is going on with your track numbers there - what a strange problem I've never seen before.

Foobar can certainly re-tag from filenames. Select all tracks of an album and right-click > Properties > right-click the 'Track Number' field > Automatically Fill Values.

Set source to 'File Names', and pattern to the same naming scheme as the files have. Example -

%tracknumber%. %title%
-or-
%tracknumber% - %title%

(Looks like in your screenshots there are two different naming schemes there)

Cheers
