Unrecoverable playback error: Sample rate of 176400 Hz not supported (by X-Fi))

When trying out ASIO and DSD output:

"Unrecoverable playback error: Sample rate of 176400 Hz not supported by this device"

My setup is as follows (from 2006, soon new PC hopefully =D):

AMD X2 3800+ dual core manchester cpu.
Creative X-Fi Elite Pro 7.1 soundblaster
Denon 1909 receiver.
GigaWorks S750 speakers with titanium tweeters (woopie ! =D)

Soundblaster to Receiver:
1. Connecteable via RCA/analog
or
2. spdif/fiber via motherboard/realtek audio 97
or
3. NOT: Creative x-fi console i/o/breakout box but currently not working spdif/fiber.
or
4. HDMI via graphics card GT 520, but currently replaced with GT 1030 so not possibly anymore and GT 520 old drivers needed and are buggy unable to install.

Anyway.

The creative-xi elite pro 7.1 soundblaster is still my best option to play sound.

It's spec sheet is here:

http://www.elst.ru/products/creative/Sound%20Blaster%20X-Fi%20Elite%20Pro%20Datasheet%20English.pdf

Seems genuine though the link is to a russian site.

According to spec sheet if I read it correctly:

First I thought 96kHz sample rate, but now that I look at it again also after trying out foobar maybe I need to look at second paragraph: 88 khz.

Anyway this soundblaster does have ASIO driver and can play apperently at 88 khz sampling rate.

I would like to try out

DTS only for the following ISO/SACD disc:

HENRY_MANCINI_PINK_PANTHER

PCM already sounds great... and I can set it to 88200 which works !

But DSD does not allow me to set it ?! it's grayed out...

So I still want to try DSD to see if there are any audio/quality differences and just for the fun/interest of it to see if it can actually work ?!

But as far as I can tell DSD and this Super Audio CD disc has 176400 Hz as it's encoding ????

So I'm thinking.... maybe there is a plugin that can DOWN SAMPLE.... DSD 176400 Hz to 88200 Hz ?!?!

I have seen asio proxy ? not sure if that is what is needed, this seems to be used for upsampling ? But I think I need to down sample ?!?

I hope I a clear to you what the problem is ?!? If not let me know and I will add some screenshots to explain further if needed.

But if you already understand what I am writing about here is my question ?!?!?

Is there any solution for me/this problem ?! With current hardware setup ?!? To somehow solve this problem ?!? And down sample DSD ?!?!?

Is there a plugin for this ?!?

I don't do DSD, but have you tried just inserting foo_dsp_resampler_mod2 (https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,67376.0.html) first in your DSP manager list and adding 176400 Hz to the "Resample ONLY frequencies" box?  Pick any target rate supported by your audio device for "Target samplerate."

Oh I see I made a typo *, i wrote DTS, i ment to DSD :)

Anyway thanks for your suggestion... not sure if that mod makes sense... reading up to it... maybe it can work for dsd too.

Hmmm SOX ? lol... doesn't seem to do what I want... I don't really want to resample/re-encode existing files... that would be weird anyway for these discs...

I want something that runs in real time and can down sample in real time ? Maybe this is too much to ask for for CPU...
Though there is CUDA of NVIDIA ;)

GPU-Accelerated down sampling perhaps ? ;) Not sure if all this stuff is "parallizeable"... maybe... especially DSD... since it's just a bunch of 10101010101010111101010101.... hmmmmmmm

Your hardware doesn't support DSD playback. The best option is to configure the DSD decoder to convert to 44.1 kHz PCM. It will sound identical to native DSD but has the benefit of not having any inaudible frequencies causing trouble.
