I was waiting the whole day long for the official release now.

Edit:

My used codecs and settings:

I still can't buy it yet.  I guess I'll just have to play with the demoversion until they update the online store.

An error occurred during the copy process (file name: Ner\Uninstall\UNNero.cfg).

Please reboot your computer and retry.

Edit:
Similar messages for the other components too, and it seems to have randomly installed only part of the components (no Recode, for example).

Is it just me, or there is no help file anywhere in Nero 6?

WTF...

Did somebody manage to work with Nero Recode? All DVD files I feed to it (both encrypted and decrypted ones) are refused.

Recode works for me using decrypted files that I put through IfoEdit's "DVD Authoring" mode.  I have yet to try it on just plain decrypted files.
Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

How do I do that? I downloaded IfoEdit 0.95, but couldn't find out about this mode.

I got an e-mail from them with links to both U.S. and European versions. (U.S. version has link for all the help files). I saw the U.S. version has Nero Mix; while the European version has Nero Media Player instead of Nero Mix. Can you tell me which is the better one to get?
Also- assume un-install 5.5 first?
Thanks- cadabra3

You can download the demo version from our homepage :

So the only way to encode AAC HE with it is to use the nero audio player (this european version!?) seems a little clunky never used these types of things in nero before... but it works...

Just tried it with Gin Blossoms - Alison Road... thought i'd take it easy with some rock but it turns out the cymbals and tight drum in it make it quite difficult to encode... I can hear problems right up to 60k and maybe 80k ... I guess its quite a tricky one... playing the file in foobar and the nero player shows the clear difference.. it is impressive a difference... are there going to be quality discussions on this then!? if so where? I can upload a sample from this song as it does appear to be quite difficult for AAC HE to cope with until given a fairly large amount of bits..

Just an aside... at what point does the SBR component become redundant... i see the LC AAC is 44.1khz by 80k/s ?!!? is the cut off here.. i think i can hear more high pitch stuff in the nero player but not as much as the lower rates...

So i'm not totally blown away.. its by no means transparent on my headphones... but i bet on speakers and other systems it'll be passable.. especially with "easier" music... be interesting to see how this goes... knowing that i can just get the nero player license key for $20 or so is tempting and i'll probably go for that just to play with it... comparing it against ogg at these rates will be interesting tho... more testing tomorrow... what does everyone else think?

DVD Author > Author New DVD (At the top, in the toolbar)

It requires that your VOB is demuxed to m2v video and ac3 audio, which you can do with another program - VOB Edit.  Once you have demuxed your VOB(s), use DVD Author in IfoEdit to rejoin them.  Then send these rejoined files to Nero Recode and it should work.

Or the encode files dialog, or the save tracks dialog, or the waveeditor...

For those who don't know, you don't need the main recording package of Nero 6 to encode with HE AAC (or to try it out). All you need to download is the NeroMix software.  It looks like you will be able to buy a license for it separately as well, I think the "buy lincense" pop up said somewhere around 20 dollars, which isn't bad at all.  I am trying out the HE AAC encoding quality of Nero right now.  One of the main reasons I did not want to install the full package is because I already have Nero 5.5 on my computer, and did not want to copy over it with the demo of Nero 6.  So for those who already have another version of Nero, you won't have to install over it with the Nero 6 demo to try out the Nero Digital audio encoding.

Btw, I really like how NeroMix encodes from the playlist.  Ingenious!  One thing I would like to note is that there is no option to output the encodes to the same directory as the source.  You have to set a static directory in the options menu for all encode outputs.  By default, the encodes will be put in "C:\Program Files\ahead\MyMusic".

I can't play 5.1 HE AAC files with Nero Media Player :'(
I got a "Can't open output audio device"

if only FAAD2 was already updated

I played some 30-40 kb/s VBR preset HE AAC encodes in NeroMix (which can play the SBR stuff) and then in my Winamp player (which cannot play the SBR stuff).  I was amazed at the difference in quality!  The cymbals sound so much closer to the original with SBR than without.  It sounded almost exactly the same, if not the same.  Of course, I have not had time to do any ABX testing, but man, this stuff really does what they say it does with high frequencies.  Playing the same song in Winamp was almost unlistenable, because of the lack of SBR playback.  Just wanting to say that I am impressed with this stuff, AAC+ looks to have quite a lot of potential, which I can now say from experience

On how to encode AAC HE

Quote
Or the encode files dialog, or the save tracks dialog, or the waveeditor...

Where are these options... I too have only installed "NeroMediaPlayer" this is the same as NeroMix i assume.. just localised?! anyways i didn't see any of these options... all i can see is encoding via the playlist, which isn't too bad.. its just if these options are there elsewhere, perhaps allowing you to output to same directory as the source files then that'd be good...

Going to test some more today.... when i was saying that i wasn't that impressed I dont think i was realising just how low a rate it was doing at ~30k and yet sounding impressively close... will test against ogg shortly...

When is the FAAD (is that right?) decoder being released...although neromediaplayer is quite good, like the hifi component appearance

Ah ok, you need to install Nero for those other options.
