maranz amply question about power button

hi
i own a beautiful maranz amply dated '90
the power button work but i guess the switch is week and it could be damaged turning on&off

is there a safe way to turn on and off without using the power button ?

i guess that set the volume at the minimum and unplug the plug to electrical current could damage it , is it true ?

i opened the amply to clean from dust , and i have seen the power button , it 's hard to change the switch

what can i do it?
could you give me some advises?

thanks
cheers

"...it could be damaged turning on&off"?   IOW this is about something that has never happened?

Do you realize how obsessive this sounds?

Yup, another power switch such as the one on a plug strip or other kind of switched outlet extension cord. Happens all the time, but usually for practical, real world reasons.

False!

Obsessive nonsense!

A well designed power amp, or even a cheaply built one has to be able to tolerate all kinds of power-on and power-off procedures or its going to be a warranty claim nightmare for its producer. People have gone out of business for building gear that is fragile.

It has worked well for 26 years as you tell it, and it just might work for another 26 years. BTW have you put the amp on a test bench to determine whether actual probable degradation such as loss of capacity in the electrolytic capacitors has happened?

Treat yourself to something in the real world that you like instead of punishing yourself about problems that haven't happened and may never happen.

Enjoy the music and the rest of the real world.

Is it intermittent (works sometimes and sometimes doesn't work, etc.)?

If so, try some contact cleaner.   Spray some into the switch and operate it several times...  You can do that with the unit unplugged.

If you feel confident with your electronics & soldering skills, you could bypass the existing switch and add a toggle switch in the rear panel.
