Compressing PS1 games with CD audio tracks (Redbook Audio)

What is the best way to compress PS1 games with CD audio tracks. I'm aware that using ECM tools, RAR and 7zip archives for data and Monkey's Audio (APE) for audio is very effective but I would rather use the method I can directly read them with ePSXe emulator.
PBP files seem the way to go but they don't seem to compress audio tracks at all (I used PSX2PSP).
If this is not possible I would also like to know how to do the first method (with ECM, RAR and APE files) correctly.
