Question: What do these XLD Settings Actually Mean

First post on these forums (although I have been using the Knowledge Database for years), so my apologies if this is in the wrong section...

I had two quick questions regarding XLDs ripping options and what they actually do (l love the program and have been using it for years, but I have never fully understood what these two options are actually doing in regards to how XLD goes about ripping).

1) In the XLD preference CD Rip section, there is a number counter with the heading "Max retry count". My question is, max retry count for what? I would think this would be the max retry count for XLD to attempt reading a damaged sector from your disc, however, from experience, it seems that the retry count only applies to gathering pregap, ISRC, MCN information...but maybe it effects the actual ripping too?

2) Similarly, under the CD Rip setting, is an option for "Verify suspicious sectors". Again, I am not really sure what this is coded to do. My guess would be that if a test and copy read block don't match, it would read again? I have tried ripping a scratched CD (that does not yield an accuraterip) both with and without this option selected, and as far as I can tell there are no additional rereads.

Anyway, I was just wondering if someone who had more knowledge about XLD (I know the code is viewable), might be able to explain to me what the program is actually doing with these options.
