BBC HLS/AAC HD radio streams

The BBC has recently replaced its AAC HD quality audio streams with HLS/AAC encoded streams. They are in a flash container and I can't get Foobar to play them. After an outcry they have restored Radio 3's AAC stream but all this is temporary as they have indicated a move to MPEG DASH.

Has anyone manged to play one of the new streams in Foobar? This is the URL for the 6 Music stream: http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manif...bbc_6music.m3u8

It seems to be "forbidden" outside the UK.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is.

Yes, I'm listening via MinimServer which connects to the HLS stream segments, strips out the MPEG transport stream headers and delivers the result as a SHOUTcast stream.

MinimServer does not buffer enough data initially and so is inclined to produce a three or four second hole once on start up. This makes foobar disconnect unless you set foobar's buffer big enough - I'm using 7 seconds. (The segments are 6.4 seconds long.)

I found the instructions on setting up MinimServer on the Naim forum and they required a bit of adaption - but you may find enough on the MinimServer site. It is also being used as a work around for Linn kit.

Likewise I am also using Minimstreamer to restream to FB2K and other embedded players that no longer work. I did post a request for HLS to be supported which may need to be reiterated now that DASH seems to be a growing standard having evolved from Microsoft smooth streaming.
