BeyerDynamic DT-880 (600 Ohms) vs AKG 701/702

Hi, it's me again

I currently have the AKG K702. I've heard a lot of people saying that the DT-880 are treble heavy, and I've heard the same thing about the K702. Honestly, I don't always find the K702 to be THAT much treble heavy.

Anyone heard or have both ?

What's your opinions ?

Thanks !

Alan

Anybody ever hear of equalizers?

Rhetorical question as any music player worth its salt has one.

I don't know why people get caught up in buying headphones with the sonic color of the week, when you can use a music player with a halfways decent equalizer and change colors for free.

Are you looking to buy?

I have a pair of Q701's (in bright green!) but they also come in black or white, which are pretty much identical and a good percent cheaper on Amazon.

Both pairs of headphones will require a good Amp, the K/Q701's require 3/5ths the volts to achieve 90SPL than the DT-880, but the DTs are easy to to drive with the 600ohm compared to the 60ohm of the K/Q701s.

The DT's are also a bunch more expensive, have less treble, and mildly less distortion (maybe 0.4%@1000hz compared to 0.5%) the K701's have pretty bad distortion on the first sample (maybe a faulty product?) though the 2nd sample and the Qs look about on-par.

As Arnold said you can always EQ out any issues using Music player or system wide with equaliser-apo (if you game etc).

Please feel free to correct me if I've made a mistake.

If we are talking objectively buy a Sennheiser instead because they have much lower distortion according to the same source. . . they are much better than that treble boosted "mid-fi" crap.
FLAC -> JDS Labs ODAC/O2 -> Sennheiser HD 650 (equalized)
