Youtube DTS demos not playing on rear speakers

When I play a DTS or DOLBY THX demo from youtube, the rear speakers are silent.
I wonder what am I configuring wrong, it must be something related to the browser or youtube because:

When I view a DTS 5.1 movie using XBMC media center everything is fine, all speakers work.
When I hear DTS WAV music also everything is fine.
So the HTPC is definitely capable of playing HD audio.

I got an HTPC with a RADEON 6450 graphics video card which also handles HD audio (Drivers version 8.930)
The HTPC is connected to a YAMAHA RX-V3800  AV receiver through HDMI to 5.1 speakers.

Any help is welcome.

Youtube only supports 2 channels of audio (stereo) , so you will not get 5.1 sound from Youtube videos.

And, I'm pretty sure YouTube uses AAC audio.  You can upload a variety of audio/video formats and they will get converted to a standard format that anyone can watch/listen to.

Then that would explain it.
It is still confusing that there are so many videos in you tube that claim to test your surround settings (I'd post some links, but it is so trivial to find them, just search "surround test")

Some of them are actual surround tests, but for binaural stuff and other things like Dolby Headphone tests, for which you need to use headphones. There are probably also some type of virtual speaker (like Dolby Virtual Speaker) tests, but those aren't as effective. And some of them might just be mistakes from the uploaders who thought youtube would preserve 5.1 audio.
