FB2K: error with DISCNUMBER and TOTALDISCS in CUESHEETS

Dear all,

CUESHEETS e.g. from CUETOOLS may contain the fields:

REM DISCNUMBER
REM TOTALDISCS

to help identify multi-disc sets.

Unfortunately foobar2000 does not read these fields and deletes them when making changes to the cuesheet. Is anybody by any chance working on adding the proper processing of these fields in foobar2000?

i think if you add the referenced file to a foobar playlist without the cuesheet, you can add discnumber/totaldiscs to the file tags. these will then show through when you use the cuesheet again.

Marc, thank you for your reply. I have the whole disc (all tracks) in 1 flac file. The flac file does not have any tags, they are all in the cuesheet. Therefore I cannot use your tip.

The fact that CUESHEETS where never meant to hold this information, does not mean that they might have evolved over time to hold these information. Since CUETOOLS already supports the tags, I think it would be great if foobar2000 could do the same.

it's a single file and the discnumber and totaldiscs are common for all tracks so there's no reason why you cannot tag the file yourself. if you refuse to through choice, that's not my problem.

My question was was to look for a workaround but a feature request for fb2k.

well i'm fairly certain what you're asking for won't be implemented. obviously i'm not an authority on the matter so i may well be proved wrong.

What makes you think so? Are you a developer for FB2k?
In the bit that you omitted from the quote, he specifically said that he is not. Neither am I, but, like marc, I have seen countless threads where people, including myself, requested the ability to store arbitrary metadata in cuesheets and never received a reply from any developer. So, we can both extrapolate with reasonable confidence.
