sorting order

in the tool bar you can go edit>sort>sort by...    and then with this you can put in which sort pattern you want for the current playlist view. my question is how do you reverse the order while using this sort tool. i tried using the "  SORT DESCENDING BY <sort-pattern>  " command but i couldnt get it to work. what is the proper syntax?

Have you already looked here and here? Hopefully the answer will be hidden in there. Sorry I'm not much of a help, I don't quite understand much of this...

my question is how do you reverse the order while using this sort tool.

Basically, you can’t.

Technically, you can, but it requires added syntax to manually force the reversed sort, for example by subtracting all numbers from a high baseline such as 9999. For letters, there is probably a method, but I can’t think of one right now. Hopefully my post pointing this out might jog the memory of other readers who’ve performed the necessary workarounds in the past.

It could help if you told us exactly what you’re wanting to sort.

You can use the "Sort by fields..." command from foo_utils. It allows you to use multiple fields for sorting and for each field you can choose whether to sort in ascending or descending order.
